Roots Jiu Jitsu Hawaii was founded by Professor Joey Jordan in 2021 within the walls of the Mango Tree Muay Thai Gym in Pearl City, Hawaii. From the very beginning, his vision was clear: create a warm and inclusive environment for practitioners of all levels, free from politics, where the focus is solely on growth and camaraderie.

In July 2024, Roots Jiu Jitsu took a significant step forward with the opening of its first standalone location in Aiea, Hawaii. This new facility is a testament to the dedication and passion that Joey has instilled in the art of Jiu Jitsu. Under his guidance, the school has become a home for both aspiring and experienced athletes, fostering a culture of teamwork that strengthens Team Hawaii.

Joey’s commitment to developing champions is evident in the successes of his students, who have consistently competed at high levels.
